The Roost sits to the left of the courtyard, alongside the bordering fields. The last remaining barn conversion was completed in 2012 and has been cleverly designed to take full advantage of the jaw-dropping view across the Camel Estuary. Designed to reflect the beautiful moorland colours, textures and images of the surrounding countryside, the main door opens to a large lobby with plenty of space for walking boots, coats and day tripping bits & bobs. The spacious dual aspect Double Bedroom sits off the ground floor Hallway and with its king-size bed is perfect for a quiet, uninterrupted night’s sleep. The attractive Bathroom comprises of a large, luxurious walk-in shower, and with solar thermal water heating, there’s plenty of hot water too.
However, the real beauty of this cottage becomes apparent when you walk up the four small steps to the large open plan Living Space upstairs. With its stylish and very well equipped Kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, cooker, hob, microwave and fridge/freezer at one end, the opposite end is floor to ceiling glass providing stunning views over the neighbouring fields out towards the North Atlantic coast. There’s a Dining Area and then lots of space to really relax, flopping on the large, comfy sofa to curl up with a book, snooze or just watch the clouds go by. If you fancy something more taxing, there’s also a selection of games, including the Cornwall version of Monopoly to test your memory from day trips out, or if you simply want to hibernate, there’s always the selection of Freeview channels via the flat screen TV.
With underfloor heating throughout plus the wood-burning stove, you’ll be cosy and warm in the Winter, and enjoy the breeze off the fields when you open up the large windows upstairs in the Summer. There’s free WiFi, a hairdryer, and crisp white Egyptian cotton bedlinen and bath towels are also included. A starter basket of logs is supplied free with each booking and subsequent bags of logs charged at £5 per bag. There is also a small front garden with BBQ and sheltered seating area.
Ideally suited for those who want to get away and really enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside or for special romantic breaks – but with a huge dollop of luxury. Four legged friends are equally welcome, with slate floors everywhere bar the Bedroom, and with the cottage nestling between open fields, there’s plenty of opportunities for morning and evening jaunts, plus an easy, circular walk up to the Moor and back to the village (via The Old Inn if you so wish!).
